The short version
This site sets one cookie, and only after you sign in. It is the cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, and nothing on this page loads a third-party script, so there is nothing here for an advertiser to read.
Because the only cookie is the one that makes signing in work, we do not need your permission to set it — a cookie that does what you asked for when you clicked "sign in" is exempt from the consent rule. We ask anyway, so you can see what is stored and say no to everything else.
What is stored, and why
| Name | What it is | Why | Lives for |
|---|---|---|---|
seoengine_session |
A random session token. It contains no personal data — the details of your account are looked up on the server from the token. | Strictly necessary: it is how the site knows you are signed in between page loads. Without it you would have to log in on every page. | 14 days, or until you sign out. |
cookie_choice |
The choice you make in the cookie banner: all or
necessary. |
So the banner does not ask you again on every page. It is set by your browser, not sent to us in any report. | 1 year, or until you change it below. |
The session cookie is marked HttpOnly (so scripts on the page
cannot read it), SameSite=Lax (so another site cannot make your
browser use it), and Secure when the site is served over HTTPS.
Those flags are what stop the cookie being stolen or abused; see the
security and privacy page for the
detail.
What we do not use
- No analytics cookies. No Google Analytics, no session recording, no heat maps.
- No advertising cookies. No ad networks, no retargeting, no pixels.
- No third-party cookies at all. Nothing on this site loads a script or a font from another company, so there is no third party in a position to set a cookie.
Change your choice
You can change your mind at any time. This button re-opens the same choice the banner offered.
Blocking cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you refuse cookies and delete the ones already stored. Blocking the session cookie means you will not be able to sign in; blocking the choice cookie means the banner will ask again on your next visit. Neither breaks the pages you can read without signing in.
